Medicine, Mysteries and Palace Intrigue

The Apothecary Diaries, or Kusuriya no Hitorigoto, follows Maomao, a sharp young apothecary who is kidnapped and ends up working as a lowly servant in the imperial inner palace. When her knowledge of herbs and poisons helps solve a mystery threatening the emperor's children, she catches the attention of Jinshi, the enigmatic official who oversees the inner court. Clever deductions, courtly intrigue and Maomao's wonderfully dry personality have made it one of the most loved mystery series of recent years. This collection brings its cast to the dakimakura format, printed on both sides.

Flowing silk robes, ornate hairpins and the lavish rooms of the inner palace set the tone for these covers, inspired by a fictional empire modeled on imperial China. Maomao's simple servant clothes and dried herbs stand beside Jinshi's elegant court attire and the colorful garments of the consorts.

Maomao would probably test every design here for poison first, then hurry back to her herbs. Uncover more series in the full catalog.
